After the presentation, students were interviewed by The Modesto Bee about their thoughts on what they learned.

In 1980, Dr. Victor DeNoble was recruited by the Philip Morris Tobacco company to study the behavioral and physiological effects of nicotine. After successfully identifying an innovative nicotine substitute, his attempts to publish his work were suppressed by Philip Morris. He was eventually fired from his job and all of his data, research and even his laboratory were seized.
In 1994, he became the first “whistleblower” to begin tearing down the wall of secrecy built by the tobacco industry. He was a key witness in the federal government’s case against the industry and testified before congress.
Now, Dr. DeNoble continues to raise awareness of the highly addictive nature of tobacco and other drugs.
