Coronavirus Flyer

At this time, the health risk to the general public in California from novel coronavirus remains low, but common-sense precautions to prevent the spread of all infectious diseases can be taken. As with any virus, especially during the flu season, there are a number of steps you can take to protect your health and those around you.

These precautions will be helpful to also prevent the spread of other common influenza and gastroenteritis.

Wash Your Hands -Wash them often with soap and water

Stay Home-Stay home for a full 24 hours after your fever goes away, without the use of fever-reducing medicine

Get Vaccinated-Flu vaccine is encouraged for those who have not had it this season

Clean Surfaces Routinely-clean frequently touched surfaces

Don't Touch Your Face-Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands

Avoid People Who are Sick -Avoid close contact with people who are sick. If someone does become sick with respiratory symptoms, like fever and cough, they should stay away from work, school or other people to avoid spreading illness

Go To a Doctor-Seek immediate medical care if symptoms become more severe, e.g. high fever or difficulty breathing

Don't Spread Germs-Cover cough with a tissue or sleeve

Face Masks: Face masks are most useful for preventing disease spread when they are worn by people who have symptoms. This is why people are asked to wear a mask at doctors' offices and hospitals if they are coughing or sneezing.
